Senior CPC leader meets with Turkish guest

BEIJING, April 26 (Xinhua) -- Senior leader of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Zhou Yongkang met with Abdulkadir Aksu, first deputy chairman of Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party, on Thursday in Beijing.

During their meeting, Zhou, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, applauded Aksu's contributions to promoting ties between China and Turkey, according to a press release issued by the International Department of the CPC Central Committee.

Zhou, who is also the secretary of the Political Science and Law Committee of the CPC Central Committee, recalled his three previous meetings with Aksu, noting that many substantial achievements were scored in bilateral cooperation across many fields after the meetings.

He also expressed his appreciation for Turkey's adherence to the one-China policy, vowing that China will work with the Turkish side to continue to boost bilateral cooperation in fields such as trade, the humanities and culture at national and local levels and jointly crack down on the "three evil forces" of terrorism, separatism and extremism in an aim to maintain peace, stability and development in the two nations and the region.

Zhou also noted that the Chinese government attaches great importance to the development of its Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region and has scored remarkable progress in boosting Xinjiang's social and economic development

Aksu said that Turkey appreciates China's path of peaceful development and the endeavors made by the Chinese central government to promote Xinjiang's economic development.

Turkey expects to step up its cooperation with China in fields of infrastructure construction, finance and anti-terrorism, Aksu added.

Aksu is visiting China as a guest of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee.
